Individual Reflection
My Journey To Become A Better Learner
Hallo All,
My name is Arbaul Hidayati , Actually I ever introduce myself in the previous blog, haha , But it's okay. In this time I'll tell story about me and my journey to become a better learner , I'm a student in Satya Wacana Christian University in English Education Program Language. So many new things that I have when to be student in SWCU like meet kind and patient lectures in their teaching and has met new friends with each different characteristic and has challenging learning materials. And I must to familiarize myself with English language everyday, even though English is not a new for me but for now I determined to be able to master this language because English language is very important for now, right ?
In the beginning semester I thought this program study has a lot of learning materials, one of the examples is Integrated Communicative Course. We are required for reading and listening at least one text/story everyday to improve our English skill. Actually I like reading such as novels, short story or news but in Bahasa and I like listening to music in English language, In that time I had not found a method to learned English properly. And then my ICC's lecture, Mr. Daniel ask us to learn reading and listening in ER- Central and English e Reader. At First I felt it will be boring and I'm very lazy to do that but I realized my English skills are good enough. And it is the reason for me to try harder to study and compel myself to learn. And from this I started to read and listen story in English E-Reader, ER-Central or the other sources, to be honest after that I think I enjoy learning like that,I means not as boring as I thought. In my free time I used to read one until three reading and listening stories each day. Until now I can finish 103 listening text and 103 reading text in ER- Central . Although I rarely reading text in English before, now I'm getting to used it. And it is helpful to improve my English because I think when I read or listen text in English have a lot of benefits, one example is know more than vocabulary,I believe as longer I will be more better.
In the near end of this semester I feel reading and listening is still interesting and helpful in my learning process also help me to completed all assignment, although my intensity of reading and listening in ER-Central or English e Reader is reduced. It's because I've some project with UKDW making project readers theater, so I spend my time for reading and understanding the story that I will show with my others friends. This project very challenging too because we must combine our skill in reading and writing text to make the best story and I enjoyed with this project. Now, I think I must be more active learn reading,listening or writing in English text because it will be very important especially for support my point. I will make it to be new habit but also to improve myself. Yeahh maybe you think this is will be boring , but not for me. I know my weakness and I know what should I do.
And the end of this semester I'll still learn English on the various source. Maybe I will read the other books not only fiction book or graded reader. And I have planning to join at online English courses to fill time off while waiting for the next semester, because my ability in English is still not enough and I must increase it. I will definitely regret if I don't do it. Like the title I want to become A better learner and I believe I can do it, and one day my English skill will be great.
